The island of Socotra is a tiny dot on the map, where the Arabian Sea meets the Indian Ocean. A mysterious, mountainous land, with pristine beaches, dense forests and deep canyons, shipwrecks, bustling fishing villages, and some of the most unique and unusual plant and animal life found anywhere on the planet.

Designed for adventurous travellers, this journey unveils the incredible diversity of the island while avoiding the crowds wherever possible. You'll hike into the spectacular Hajir Mountains, spending two days trekking through the Dragon Blood Tree forests before descending to the coast. From there, travel by traditional fishing boat beneath dramatic sea cliffs, camp on deserted beaches, swim in natural pools, explore vast cave systems and experience the warmth and hospitality of Socotra's fishing communities.

  • Imagine a week spent walking through dragon’s blood forests with their surreal, umbrella-shaped trees that bleed red sap, climbing pure white dunes that rise from gin clear seas, snorkeling amongst vibrant corals in secluded reefs, cruising along the jagged coastline on the deck of a colourful fishing boat spotting dolphins and turtles, and falling asleep under the brightest of starry skies.

April 2027

Algeria is a country of striking contrasts, from the vast Saharan landscapes around Djanet to the Mediterranean energy of Algiers and Constantine. This adventure starts in Algeria’s capital Algiers, before heading Constantine’s dramatic bridges and ravines, and the Roman city of Djémila. From there, we will fly south, deep into the Sahara, where we will spend a week wandering through the famous Tadarat Rouge, with it’s red sand dunes, winding rock canyons and prehistoric rock art, accompanied by warm Tuareg hosts.

  • This adventure blends the wild beauty of the Sahara with Algeria’s most iconic historic modern and ancient cities. Discover the country’s modern capital, Algiers, wander Constantine’s dramatic bridge-linked ravines, and the highland Roman city of Djémila. From there, our journey takes us south to explore the Tadarat Rouge, and it's canyons, oases, ancient rock art and star-filled desert nights.

nepal’s upper mustang

Explore the remote kingdom of Upper Mustang, a region of Nepal that remained closed to outsiders until 1992 and retains a culture deeply rooted in its Tibetan heritage. Timed to coincide with the annual Tiji Festival, this journey offers the rare opportunity to witness the masked dances and Buddhist ceremonies in the ancient walled city of Lo Manthang. Travelling through stark Himalayan landscapes, hiking to remote villages and monasteries, you'll discover one of the most culturally distinctive and least-visited corners of the Himalayas.

pakistan’s mountains & cities

September 2027

After a month exploring Pakistan this year, I've refreshed the 2027 itinerary to showcase a side of the country that few travellers experience. Finding that spectacular Hunza Valley has become increasingly busy, this journey ventures further west into the dramatic landscapes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a region of soaring peaks, glacier-carved valleys and deeply rooted mountain cultures. You'll hike through some of Pakistan's most breathtaking and remote scenery, exploring the valleys of Swat, Kalash and Chitral, staying in small villages and spending time with the communities that call these mountains home.

The trip is book-ended by time in two of Pakistan's most fascinating cities. In Peshawar, you'll delve into the heart of Pashtun culture, wandering centuries-old bazaars and tracing the city's role as a crossroads of Central and South Asia. In Lahore, you'll discover the grandeur of the Mughal Empire through magnificent architecture, vibrant food culture and lively streets.

  • Beginning in the historic city of Peshawar, you'll journey north through the spectacular landscapes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Chitral, where you'll spend time with the remarkable Kalash people and learn about one of Pakistan's most distinct indigenous cultures. Crossing the dramatic Shandur Pass, often described as the "Roof of the World," you'll enter Gilgit Baltistan, where the adventure continues with a three day trek linking the remote valleys of Yasin and Ishkoman. From there, the route winds through some of northern Pakistan's most breathtaking mountain scenery to Skardu before a flight south brings you to Lahore, where you'll round off the journey exploring the city's magnificent Mughal architecture, bustling bazaars and celebrated food scene.
